When you boot up burp suite, you have a few options in the pro version that you don’t have in the free version. There are two options that are very clear “Temporary project” is of course not saved or you can save your session but what are these two options when loading a session?
This setting can protect you from potentially harmful settings that could be configured within a Burp project file.
Deselect Trust this project if you want Burp to remove any potentially harmful settings before opening projects. This also pauses any automated tasks configured within the project.
This setting can protect you from sending requests that could be set to automatically run when you open a Burp project file. We recommend this setting if the project file is from an unknown or untrusted source.
Select Pause Automated Tasks if you do not want automated tasks to run when you open projects.
Burp suite, besides the project files, can also load with specific settings. This can be useful if you trust the project itself but want to override it with your own settings. You can share both project and settings files with others so they can hunt like you but on their own project for example.
You can always do this if you want to load your settings in others project files for example and even disable extensions. This is useful because burp’s extensions sometimes take up so much ram, it freezes.
